Why Take the Be Happy Pledge
Jan 17, 2012

With the start of 2012 under our belts and some the New Year’s resolutions we made dwindling, we love the Vancouver Aquarium’s Ocean Wise latest campaign Be Happy; an online community created to support seafood-loving families put their best fish faces forward. If one of your 2012 goals was to eat in a more healthful way, cue learning more about sustainable seafood options for your family – something we can all Be Happy about.
Living on the coast of British Columbia affords us the luxury of access to an abundance of delectable seafood. The Be Happy campaign allows visitors to their Facebook page to pledge support for ocean-friendly/sustainable seafood and have fun by uploading their fun fishy faces while getting tips, trivia and recipes about sustainable seafood.
The Vancouver Aquarium Ocean Wise program has joined forces with seven other North American ocean conservation organizations, including the David Suzuki Foundation, to launch Be Happy and their message – seafood choices matter and can make a positive difference in the world’s oceans.
Here at the Stimuli Magazine offices we did a little digging and discovered that our favourite local fish market, 1 Fish 2 Fish Fresh Seafood Market, were also the lower mainland’s first ever seafood market to become an Ocean Wise Partner. You can visit seafood market owner, Heather Jenkins and her team 7 days a week in downtown Langley, BC to get your ocean-friendly seafood.
