Techy Stuff

We have come to find our little flash drives indispensable.  It's so easy to store info, move it between computers and even use the little devices as a backup drive.  However, they are kind of geeky and definitely DO NOT count as an accessory…until now.

USB Jewel has turned flash drives in to beautiful pendants.  Elegantly designed in Sterling Silver and crusted with crystals, this pendant is actually a 4GB high-speed flash drive with easy plug and play installation.  Priced at $129, these USB pendants are available online and shipping is only $6.99.

If you are more of a bracelet lady, we have something for you too.  Brando has a jewel series USB thumb drive that looks like a bracelet or watch.  Priced at only $33, it is also available online and shipping is only $3.00.

Finally, if you are looking for a little more fun with your flash drive and don't mind a few giggles at your geeky expense then perhaps the Robot Flash Drive by Decor Craft Inc. is the choice for you.  It is a 2GB drive and is priced in the low to mid $30 range.  Decor Craft items can be found at Papermoon in Fort Langley.

In this digital age of ipods, cell phones,  cameras and smartphones, the counters in our kitchens have become more of an electronic charging station that a place to prepare meals.  There are chargers plugged in to every socket and cords trail over the countertops.  It's messy and frustrating.

There is a solution.

The Powermat is a convenient wireless induction charging system.  You can charge up to three devises at the same time without all the awkward plugs and cords.  A built-in USB port allows you to charge a fourth device.  The design is sleek and modern and very 2010.  The Powermat is $99.99 and is available at London Drugs, Future Shop, Best Buy, The Source and Bell locations across the Fraser Valley.

If you prefer a more zen look we've found this Plastic Grass Charging Station.  Design by Kikkerland, this charging station is truly home decor.  Measuring only 11"x7", it tucks neatly into a corner but we think it's so pretty you'll want to show it off.  This is not a wireless device.  Your regular chargers and cords tuck into the grass and are well hidden.  We found the Plastic Grass Charging Station on Amazon.com for $26.95 USD plus shipping.

Go ahead.  Imagine a life without cords.

If you are like several of us here at Stimuli, you are an avid reader. Books line your shelves, they stack up on floors and a trip to the library would be much easier with a rolling suitcase.

The digital age has taken reading to a whole new level with Digital E-readers. You can store thousands of books on one device. Digital readers work very much like an ipod does with itunes. Digital books are purchased online via a source such as Google Books or the Sony E-store or even borrowed online from your local library, for a fraction of the cost of a hard copy book. Then, depending on what brand your e-reader is, you simply download the book to your computer or directly to your device.

As with any electronic purchase, it is very important to do your research. Each brand has different features, functions and compatibility requirements. We suggest you take a look at the Sony E-Reader (from $239.99) which is available at Sony stores, Best Buy, Future Shop and London Drugs. We also found the Aluratek at Costco for $174.99.

Stimulistas, join us in this reading revolution.

Special events, milestones, loved ones. These are these reasons we capture memories on video. Re-living a moment in time with sight and sound is what video is all about. But, what about the person stuck behind the bulky, cumbersome video camera? They miss out on the actual event because they are so busy trying to capture it.

That’s why we are absolutely loving the Flip Video. This lightweight, tiny, easy to use, digital video camera records up to 120 minutes of high resolution footage. There are two styles available; the Mino and the Ultra. Both have an High Def version.

It is so easy to use. The built in, retractable USB drive plugs into your computer for easy uploading. The pre-loaded Flipshare software allows you to instantly view, edit and email your footage as well as create movies with music and titles and create still shots. You can also upload to Facebook, Youtube and other video sharing sites.

If you order your Flip online you are able to customize the skin of your Mino & MinoHD Flip by using their design gallery, pattern generator or by uploading your own image. How cool is that?

Starting at $179.99, this is the PERFECT gift this holiday season.

The Flip is available at Best Buy, Future Shop, Walmart and online.
