Great Gifts
We have just discovered the solution to slopping and spilling on the couch while slurping soup or noodles and watching TV; the Buddha Bowl, the Udon Noodle Bowl and the Ramen Noodle Bowl from Flavour Design.
Created by local White Rock, BC company, Flavour Design, these ergonomically shaped bowls are designed to rest comfortably in the palm of your hand. The thumb hole ensures a firm grip and the Ramen or Udon Noodle Bowls have cut outs to secure your chopsticks. The Buddha Bowl is perfect for rice, lattés, ice cream, soup and even cereal. All bowls are dishwasher and microwave safe and are coated with a lead free glaze.
The Buddha Bowl is priced at $24, the Udon Noodle Bowl is $ 34 and the Ramen Noodle Bowl is $32. All styles are available online at flavourdesign.com.
Stimulistas, we apologize in advance. We've discovered a new jewelry line that you are going to want to run right out and purchase but the good news is it's versatile and affordable.
Designer Sarah Byrne has created SIMS Jewelry; handcrafted in Kelowna, BC, SIMS is a versatile line of necklaces, pendants and bracelets. The beauty of this line is that you can buy necklaces and pendants separately and then mix and match to create your own custom look depending on your mood and your outfit. Genius!
SIMS pieces are crafted from Sterling Silver and accented with Swarovski Crystals, pearls and glass beads that come to gather in a stunning design that can be dressed up or down. We envision the piece we've shown here worn casual with cropped jeans and a tee or with your favourite little black dress.
SIMS Jewelry is available locally at LUCY in Langley. Necklaces are priced from $15.99 - $32.99 and pendants are $12.99 - $19.99. Very affordable.
LUCY is offering a special introductory discount to Stimuli readers. Starting today and valid until February 23, 2012, receive 20% off your purchase of SIMS Jewelry. Just print off this editorial or mention that you saw it in Stimuli Magazine to receive the discount.
We're back to the grey days of February, but Stimulistas, It's time to break out of our winter wardrobe box and add some texture and colour to our outfits. The fact that our newest little find is able to multi-task as much as we do is an added bonus.
We just discovered these handmade Sweet Nova Clips and we love them! Created by a local mom who is a graduate of Emily Carr, the clips are intended as a hair accessory for babies and little girls. Having said that, we think they make a great brooch to add a little punch to your outfit. The felt rosette has a great texture that is perfect as a fall & winter accessory, but with spring just around the corner (we hope), the colourful Ranunculus has caught our eye.
Wondering how to wear you new purchase? Why not clip the flowers onto the collar of your shirt or use it to create a unique knot with a scarf? It's also perfectly appropriate as your own little grown-up hair accessory when tucked into the back of a ponytail.
You can pick up your own multi-tasking Sweet Nova clip at La Belle Vie in Cloverdale or online at sweetnova.com. Prices range from $4.00 - $9.00.
Setting a beautiful table is something that almost anyone can do. All it takes is a little research (cue Pinterest) for inspiration and a little shopping to pick up the perfect accessories. Then it's all about playing with your table arrangements to create your look.
While we know that Easter is still a ways off, we couldn't help but share our newest find; the Beaded Egg Votive Holder. This handcrafted, wirework egg shape absolutely sparkles with glass beads that shimmer in the flickering "candlelight". It's important to note that they are only for use with flameless candles - you'll need to pick up a couple of the battery powered versions. Available in two sizes, each candle holder comes with a 6 inch filament string so that you can hang them from your chandelier as well as place them on your table. No need to save this gem for Easter dinner, it's elegant enough to use all year long.
The Beaded Egg Votive Holders are available both in-store and online at Pottery Barn for $23.43 & $31.02 (Canadian dollars).
Stimulistas, it's time to stop checking your reflection in the rear view mirror as you wait at the stop light. You're beautiful and the mirror that you see your face in should be as well.
Local Vancovuer artist, Laura Bucci, has created these super cute pocket mirrors. Each one-of-a-kind, handmade mirror is a collage of vintage images, some of Vancouver in decades past, with a short phrase or sentence that makes you pause for a moment to reflect - pardon the pun! Along with the vintage images she has also created a version that features silk fabric. Either way, these make a beautiful gift.
We discovered the Laura Bucci mirrors at Montage in Fort Langley. Each comes packaged in a beautiful gift box. The silk version retails for $28.99 and the vintage prints range from $14.99 to $19.99.
