Everywhere you look you will see people carrying and drinking from a bottle of water. Gone are the days when we simply turned on the tap, filled a glass and drank. What is this doing to our environment? How much does this cost us every year?
Of the 10 billion—yes BILLION—water bottles sold each year, only 10% are recycled. The rest end up in landfills. This doesn’t even take into account the amount of greenhouse gases that are produced just to deliver these bottles to retailers around the globe. However, even with these facts, water quality and taste issues continue to make bottled water the beverage of choice.
Kelowna based Watergeeks offers numerous alternatives to traditional bottled water. We are loving the Filtered Stainless Steel bottle. Each non-leaching, PBA-Free bottle comes with a water purifying filter that effectively removes chlorine, bad taste, odour, lead, heavy metals and other potential water contaminants. This means that you can fill your bottle up at any regular tap and enjoy the pure, refreshing taste of clean, filtered water without using a plastic bottle. Each filter is good for 800 - 12 oz fills and replacement filters are available.
Watergeeks is founded by Brent Meikle, Executive Producer of the 2008 Award Winning Documentary “FLOW: For Love Of Water”. Their mission is to empower today’s generation to reduce water consumption and enable us to conserve this critical resource without having to make major lifestyle changes.
Watergeeks bottles are available at Home Outfitters as well as online. Visit their website to learn more about their products and the World Water Crisis.

The ancient ritual of tea drinking is still alive today.
This past weekend while we were attending the Whistler Film Festival, we came across Libre Tea. This is such a fabulous idea. The contemporary design of the Libre Tea glass will inspire blissful moments ‘on the go’.
It is a two layer glass with the inside layer holding the hot water in a health conscious glass cylinder—no plastic taste or toxics leeching into your beverage. The outside is a durable polycarbonate which ensures your tea stays hot for hours.
Here’s how it works. Your loose tea goes in the top where there is a strainer built in. Pour the water in the glass, screw on the strainer and the lid, turn it upside down and your tea starts to steep. Brilliant.
Now you can experience a tea moment anywhere, anytime.
Libre Tea is available at select Murchies and on the Libre Tea website.

One person’s junk is another person’s treasure.
Janis Gurney grew up in a family of “treasure hunters” and she has turned her love of “junking” into a wonderful line of chabby chic, vintage-inspired home décor items call Junkdreams. This busy mom of three and Pediatric nurse finds joy in taking long forgotten items and repurposing them into something beautiful and useful for your home.
Don’t know what to do with Grandma’s old silver tea pot? Janis will turn it into a bedside lamp. Too many childhood trophies that are stored in the garage? They instantly become beautiful urns for potted plants and Christmas decorations.
Here’s the great thing. Not only can you buy her items already made, but she will take your items and create something custom for you.
Junkdreams is available at The Passionate Home in Langley as well as in the Junkdreams Etsy store.

Blingle bells, blingle bells, blingle all the way. Oh what fun it is to hang a blingle bell today.
If you want to add a little bling and sparkle to your Christmas tree this year, the Blingle Bell is the ornament for you. This shiny, silver bell has acrylic crystals attached to the top and hangs from your tree with an ivory satin ribbon. We just love how simple, elegant and beautiful this ornament is.
The Blingle Bell comes beautifully packaged in a silver gift box and includes this poem:
A blingle bell’s special because of its shine,
Its shimmer, its sparkle, its ring that’s divine.
When you’re given a Blingle Bell, the meaning is clear,
You bring joy, you are special and sparkly and dear.
Just for you, here it is...a little bit of bling,
To remind you to always let your heart sing.
We found the Blingle Bell at Little White House in Fort Langley.
