Get Your Man a Naked Brief

Get Your Man a Naked Brief

Naked President and CEO Joel Primus is not shy about asking you to get Naked with him. After being shot down by the rich entrepreneurs who ruthlessly pick apart aspiring business people who come to pitch their wares on CBC's Dragon's Den, Joel Primus was determined to have his product, Naked Boxer Brief succeed. "It's been two years since the first pair of Naked Boxer Briefs was made we are proud of the positive reception we've received both in Abbotsford and Vancouver with our brand."

In speaking with Primus and his business partner and aviation marketing specialist, Ross Brown, it is clear they are firmly planted behind this truly Canadian men's underwear line. "The journey itself speaks to the integrity of the brand and the entrepreneurial spirit behind it," remarked Brown. Meeting Primus through a chance encounter, Brown partnered with Primus after the business idea was tossed from the Dragon's Den.

Based in Abbotsford, Naked was inspired by a trip Primus was on in South America where he became accustomed to the unique style of underwear men wore. Once home and not able to find anything similar, Primus was inspired to launch his own line of men's briefs. Made of imported Italian microfibre, you can get Naked in black or white and in three different seamless styles. Truly a Made In Canada product, each garment is designed, sewn and packaged in the lower mainland with packaging produced in Chilliwack, British Columbia.

In a telephone interview, Primus and Brown noted that Naked Boxer Briefs inspire sexy in men, a secret understanding that is like black lingerie on a women. With a little research, statistics show between 70 and 85 percent of men's underwear is purchased by women for men, so why not market something that is a little more like men's lingerie than your standard Fruit of the Loom's.

If you are looking for that sexy seamless piece with the perfect pouch for the man in your life, Naked Boxer Briefs are sold at several locations around the Lower Mainland including Holt Renfrew in Vancouver, Ronald Allen Clothier's in Abbotsford and Brennan's in Langley. Prices range from $38-$44.

Re-Tread His Threads

Have you ever noticed that it can be difficult to find unique, fun items for the man in your life?  Sometimes you want to get away from the "cookie- cutter" look and get something a little bit edgy.

Well, the Rebicyclist is definitely creating outside the box.  His collection of men's belts and belt buckles are made from used bicycle tires and parts.  No two belts are alike as they vary depending on the type of tire and how much it is worn.  For a knobbier look, choose a mountain bike tire.  If you're looking for a sleeker style then a road bike tire is for you.  As for sizing, your belt will be trimmed to your size upon ordering so it fits just right.

The Rebicyclist belts start at $30 and are available on his Etsy store.

Tie Up a Little Surprise

Tie Up a Little Surprise

Does your man get dressed in a suit and tie everyday?  If he has a more conservative job, he needs to look the part but we Stimulistas know that you can dress up the man but really he's still a teenager at heart.

Women wear nice lingerie to feel pretty and feminine, but what does a guy get to wear?  Miss Feeny's Finery, that's what.  These ties are the perfect indulgence for the discerning man.  Both the Classic Cut and the Thin Hipster styles are constructed from the finest, 100% silk fabrics.  The lining is precisely matched to the outer fabric and then meticulously hand-sewn for a custom look.

What makes these ties so different is that the lining features a peek-a-boo pinup girl from the 40's and 50's, an era when men knew how to dress.  It's a little something only he'll know about.  Well, except for the all the friends you know he'll be sharing this with!

Miss Feeny's Finery ties ($85) and fedoras ($225) are available online.  You choose your cut, your fabric and your pinup girl and they will ship it right to your door.

Video Game Flashback

Video Game Flashback

Do you remember when video games first hit the market?  They were NOTHING like what we have now, but they certainly revolutionized home entertainment…especially for the male part of the population.

With Father's Day coming up this weekend, we realized that a lot of Dad's have very fond memories of their first video game system.  Hangin' with their friends in the family room while shooting at the very slow moving space ship on the TV screen.  Good times!

Atari has re-launched a vintage version of their first gaming system, the Atari Flashback 2.  This system comes pre-loaded with 40 of the classic games including Asteroids, Hangman, Frog Pond, Missile Command and more.  Complete with the wood-grained console and joysticks, your man will be flashing back to the 80's.

Just a little note: make sure you get a system that is rated "Not Machine Specific" so you are not tied to a particular operating system.

The Atari Flashback 2 may still be available at some Costco locations in the Fraser Valley as well as online at amazon.ca starting at $30.
