It’s impossible not to notice the incredible buzz and excitement in and around Vancouver and its suburbs. After a nail-biting game five against the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday evening, the Vancouver Canucks now advance to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in 17 years; only the third time in the organization’s 41-year existence.
The Vancouver Canucks fan base is one of loyal followers who, despite the unsettling post-season results of previous years, have never given up on the team that brings so much life, unity, and community to not only the city itself, but the entire province. Devoted fans have been known to use extravagant measures to display their team pride; painting their bodies with the orca logo and dying their hair the team’s official colours.
