Whether you are a mother, a step-mom, daughter, or mom-to-be, Mother’s Day is a wonderful occasion to celebrate the special women in our lives. With Mother’s Day just around the corner, I thought it would be appropriate to compile some gift ideas for your trendy mom.
Tea Time. What better gift from woman-to-woman than a Parisian-inspired tea set? Chapter and Indigo bookstores have come out with charming collection on teacups and saucers, tasty organic teas, and patisseries cook books.
Day at the Spa. Serenity, tranquility, facials, and manicures, day spas are a perfect way to thank your mom. Many spas around the Lower Mainland offer gift certificates for spa treatments and even have mother-daughter specials so that you can spend a day of pampering together. Check out the Ocean Day Spa in Port Coquitlam, which has been voted number one day spa by NOW Newspaper, or Casbah’s unique Yummy Mummy service for moms-to-be.
Movie Night. Freaky Friday, Julie & Julia, Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, Anywhere But Here, the list goes on and on! Treat your mom to a classic mother-daughter movie night. Head down to your local video store and browse their DVD collection to put together a girls-night-in basket complete with your favourite films and movie treats.
Get Techy. The new iPad2, Blackberry PlayBook, or any one of the many e-readers now available on the market, are a great gift idea this Mother’s Day. You can customize the device by downloading specific apps your mom might enjoy and even order customized skins such as GelaSkins, where you can select a photo of a fond memory—adding that special touch to the gift.
Trip Down Memory Lane. Jackie, Diana, Audrey. These were the moms many of our moms looked to as style icons, setting the bar for fashionable mothers around the world. Piper Weiss’ newest book, My Mom, Style Icon?, takes a trip down memory lane, chronicling decades of the most stylish mammas in history. Available on Amazon, this is a great gift for the fashion and vintage lover.
