A special evening event at Studio b Yoga.

An equinox takes place when both day and night are equal in length. This happens twice a year, and marks the half way point between each of the bi-annual solstices.

The autumn equinox, in particular, is the time of the year when we celebrate the last of longer daylight hours and harvest the fruits of our labours (our efforts and actions put forth throughout the spring and summer) to prepare for the less active, more dormant phase of the year. “By aligning our own energies with the natural rhythms of the earth and the suns’ cycles you can achieve outward success during the growth phase of the year (spring and summer), and enjoy rest, contemplation and renewal during the dormant phase of the year (autumn and winter).” – Jilly Shipway

The many symbols associated with the quarterly cycles of the sun can be beautifully integrated into one’s yoga practice. The equinoxes represent the balance of equals; light and dark, ha and tha (hatha), fire and water, etc., etc. We are all made up of such characteristics and elements, and so it would make perfect sense to practice balancing our opposites to cultivate wholeness and experience a sense of equilibrium.

Join Christie for an evening yoga practice, in which we will journey from stronger, rinsing and balancing poses to slower, quieter, folding and sitting poses. Expect to feel challenged and to work hard, then trust that your efforts will be well supported by opportunities for restoration and relaxation. This is a mixed levels practice filled with many variations and options to support students of all levels
